A couple of years ago I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, which is a hormonal disorder, causing amongst other things, an inability to process excess insulin which can lead to obesity. To manage the obesity I was placed on medication and told to accept that weight gain was inevitable, and that the onset of diabetes was a real possibility.

I had never really been into fitness but at forty, I wasn t prepared to accept the weight gain, the life-long medication, nor the prospect of diabetes. I d joined numerous gyms over the years and started many programs, but always become bored and wasted my money. I wanted to find something that would keep me interested yet be fun, and that could cater for my low level of fitness.

I read about Fitness Camp and started a week later in June 2005, and it has proven to be the best thing I have ever done.

I stopped taking the medication after only one month, and my PCOS has continued to improve. I have done the impossible and been able to loose some weight, and combined with my improved fitness, it has led to a change in my body shape as the centimetres just fall away.

I will never break any speed records, but I constantly surprise myself with what I can achieve. I love the variety of the sessions and the friendship and camaraderie between everyone, no matter what their fitness level.

Some mornings it seems more inviting to stay curled up in bed, but once you get to the beach, the session are fun, your exercise is out of the way and you are ready to start the day. I've been starting my day at the beach for sixteen months now and it s just fantastic; I love it and wish I had discovered it sooner.

I started training with Jo twelve months ago and I still love it! I attend boxing classes, small weights groups and the small indoor/outdoor group each week. The difference in my fitness level and strength is phenomenal! I have also lost about 8 kilos (without dieting) and gone down 2 sizes in my clothes! The classes are different each week and you NEVER do the same thing twice! I especially like the Friday morning boxing class as we are very social and always go to Poppy’s for a coffee afterwards!

Weight loss is such a private and personal thing; a private tug-of-war within yourself and a personal achievement when that weight comes off. When I started I had two goals; an initial goal of getting back into a pair of jeans, and then ultimately losing 16kg. Imagine my excitement when I slid into those jeans and that was only after the second month of exercise. The Zenergy Fitness trainers have provided me with a fantastic support network, helpful hints and tips, and of course professional training, care and advice.

I am now finishing my third month and have gone on to lose 14kg. I only have another 2kg to go, and know that I will achieve my goal – with the help of my Zenergy Fitness friends.

Thank you Jo, Cory, Megan and Steve. It has become much more than just a couple of hours a week of exercise – I have made new friends, been to new places and have a whole new outlook on life.

I just wanted to stop that private weight loss tug-of-war within; I achieved that with your help, and along the way gained fitness and self-esteem. I feel healthy, I feel fit, I feel energetic and I feel ever grateful to Zenergy Fitness for helping me achieve my personal goals.
